Blizzard Breaks Barriers: Overwatch 2 Comes to Steam, Marking the Beginning of a New Collaboration

After years of working on their own launcher for PC, Battle.net, Blizzard has finally decided to release some of their games on Steam, starting with Overwatch 2.

On August 10, Overwatch 2 will be available on Steam, coinciding with a new content update called "Invasion." This update includes exciting additions like PvE story missions, a new PvP game mode, two fresh maps, and a brand new hero. Players will still need to connect their Battle.net account to play Overwatch 2 through Steam.

In a recent blog post, Blizzard explains that the decision to release select games on Steam is driven by their desire to "break down the barriers" between gaming communities. Blizzard's president, Mike Ybarra, stated that they always strive to listen to players and exceed their expectations, making the collaboration with Valve a happy endeavor.
