Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Announcement

May 24, 2024 by Alex Novichenko

Activision has officially announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 through a teaser video, with a rumored release this October on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Despite Microsoft owning Activision, the game will remain a multiplatform release. The teaser describes it as a "dark new chapter" in the series, with a worldwide reveal set for June 9 during the Xbox Games Showcase.

The story is rumored to be set, at least partially, during the Gulf War, but the franchise is known for spanning various locations and time periods. This sixth installment in the Black Ops series has reportedly been in development for four years, a significant increase from the 18 months taken for 2023's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.

Rumors suggest the return of the character Adler, and the series is known for featuring real-life figures, potentially including military and political leaders from the Gulf War era. Raven Software is said to be developing the campaign, with Treyarch handling multiplayer and Zombies modes. Both studios have hinted at their involvement on social media.
