E3 2023 Officially Cancelled
The ESA and ReedPop have officially confirmed that E3 2023, which was scheduled to take place in Los Angeles from June 13-16, has been cancelled. According to ReedPop's Kyle Marsden-Kish, the decision was made to do what's best for the industry, as many interested companies wouldn't have had playable demos ready and were facing resourcing challenges.
While the cancellation of E3 2023 is a disappointment for those who were planning to attend, digital showcases like Summer Game Fest and Xbox and Bethesda showcases will still go ahead. ReedPop has also indicated that it will continue to work with the ESA on future E3 events, suggesting that the iconic industry event may return in the future.
This news follows months of speculation about the state of E3, with major publishers like Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all announcing that they would not be attending the event.
