Onimusha Returns with New Entry: Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom officially announced the return of its classic action series Onimusha during The Game Awards 2024. The new title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, marks the series’ first new entry since its PlayStation 2 days and is set to launch in 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

The debut trailer revealed a dark fantasy action game inspired by Soulslike mechanics, featuring intense swordplay and a lone samurai protagonist. According to the official description, “A lone samurai steps forth—his blade sharpened, soul anew.”

The original Onimusha: Warlords launched in 2001 and was remastered in 2019, earning praise for its gameplay and visuals. Fans of the series can now look forward to this modern reimagining of the iconic franchise.
