Single-player MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries announced by Piranha Games

December 5, 2016 by Alex Novichenko

Rejoice BattleTech fans! MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries was announced, and it’s not a multiplayer game, but a first-person BattleTech simulator with a single-player story campaign.

Game is developed on Unreal Engine 4 and will hit your PCs (maybe consoles, but this was not announced) only in 2018. For now, we know that we will take the role of mercenary in a midst of Third Succession War, one which has been raging for almost 150 years. And yes, you will begin your path to glory as a rookie MechWarrior pilot. If you do well not only on battlefields, but in managing resources, you may be able to assemble very good Mech. Here is what Piranha Games say about their game.

In MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries you will adopt the role of a rookie MechWarrior pilot thrust into combat as the Third Succession War continues to fracture the Inner Sphere. Take contracts from the factions of your choosing and engage in tactical, first-person, PvE ‘Mech combat through an immersive, career-based Mercenary campaign driven by player choice. Victory, prestige, and profit will not only require skill on the battlefield, but in the acquisition, maintenance, and enhancement of your BattleMechs.

And you may also want to see first game video, taken right from the alpha version of the game.
