Sony Launches PC Adapter for PlayStation VR2 in August
Sony is set to release a $59.99 adapter for the PlayStation VR2 on August 7, 2024, enabling it to function with PCs. This adapter, connecting via USB-C, allows users to play PC VR games, such as Half-Life: Alyx, without needing other VR headsets. However, a DisplayPort 1.4 cable and a VR-ready PC are necessary additional purchases.
Despite not supporting certain PS5 features like HDR and adaptive triggers, the adapter maintains high-quality attributes like a 110-degree field of view and 4K resolution. This release follows Sony’s earlier announcement of PC support in February and the adapter’s recent certification in South Korea. Sony continues to promote the PSVR2, aiming to boost its appeal amid challenging VR market conditions and lagging sales compared to competitors.
