Ubisoft has announced Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, the latest installment in the iconic turn-based strategy series.

The announcement was made during Gamescom 2024, coinciding with the series' 30th anniversary. The game is set to launch in early access on Steam for PC in Q2 2025. Olden Era serves as a prequel to the entire series, taking place in the world of Enroth before the events of the original Heroes of Might and Magic.

Developed by Unfrozen, known for Iratus: Lord of the Dead, the game promises "classic gameplay" enhanced with new features. Heroes will lead squads with unique secondary abilities that can be activated during battles, and each faction will introduce new, previously unseen mechanics. The game will feature six factions, all residing on the continent of Jadame, which, though referenced in previous titles, has never been explored as a location. The story revolves around a cosmic insectoid race invading Enroth, with its inhabitants rallying to defend their lands.
