Ubisoft Fully Reveals Assassin's Creed Shadows Set in Feudal Japan
Ubisoft has fully revealed Assassin's Creed Shadows, a Japanese-set action RPG, detailing its cinematic trailer, release date, dual protagonists, and more.
The nearly four-minute trailer introduces 1579 Japan and Shadows' protagonists: the stealthy shinobi Naoe and the historical figure Yasuke. Shadows is a single-player game where players can switch between these two characters.
Assassin's Creed Shadows launches on November 15, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, PC, and Amazon Luna. The game features an evolving open world with a season cycle, affecting gameplay elements like frozen underwater entrances in winter and lush crops for stealth in spring. Light and darkness play a significant role, with a new global illumination system affecting enemy perception of Naoe and Yasuke.
Creative director Jonathan Dumont revealed the game world is similar in size to Assassin's Creed Origins, with new features like going prone, using a grappling hook, and cutting through most props.
