Ubisoft Montpellier Undergoes Major Leadership Shake-Up Amid Development Troubles for Beyond Good and Evil 2
Ubisoft Montpellier, the developer behind Beyond Good and Evil 2, is reportedly experiencing more development issues as a result of a significant leadership shakeup. Kotaku reports that the managing director, Guillaume Carmona, is no longer with the company, and the reasons for his departure are unclear. Sources also stated that the development team is facing an investigation by local authorities due to a high number of developers experiencing burnout and going on sick leave. In response, Ubisoft has arranged third-party wellbeing assessments to determine where additional support is needed.
Additionally, the creative director and director have been replaced, but the team is still struggling to finalize a creative vision for the game. Despite being revealed in 2017, Beyond Good and Evil 2 has yet to enter full production. Ubisoft has canceled three unannounced games and postponed Skull and Bones for the sixth time in recent months, adding to the company's development difficulties.
